SDRO provided fishing nets and supportive items to Sampur fishermen recently. The Ray of Hope, a leading UK based Tamil Diaspora organization provided financial support for this action.
40 fishermen are received help under this action. The Sampur is a Tamil village in Muthur division in Trincomalee district which has resettled after ten years of displacement. The Sampur people were forced to evacuate from their land by the re-established war in 2006. The Sampur fishermen association leader Mr.Kirisnapillai said that there is additionally 160 fishermen are waiting for help from Tamil Diaspora.
