We want to tackle the root causes of poverty and under development in many parts of the eastern region in Sri Lanka. Due to the 30 year old civil conflict Sri Lanka is struggling to respond to critical human rights issues are the grassroots.
The war has produced nearly 20,000 widows in the eastern region, most of them living in the outskirts of isolated townships. They do not have adequate livelihoods opportunities and have limited resources and mobility as well, which further restricts their ability to become economically secure.
